ACTUARIAL NETWORKING DAY 2020

On 19th December, members of ASSAUD gathered at Landmark Hotel for our annual Networking Event which usually aims at welcoming the first year students.  We got an opportunity to interact with each other as well as alumni and share knowledge and experience on  life and Actuarial Science at large. Actuarial Networking Day 2020 The day started as students and alumni arrived at different times, students arrived first and afterwards more alumni kept joining us. On 26th June, we had a General Election, and the new EXCOM was formed. The election featured participants from first year and second year contesting for different posts.  On this year’s election, ASSAUD introduced the  Public relation  post, which was formerly under the ICT and Public relation. Happy Women's Day 2020

On celebrating this year’s International Women’s Day with the theme “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights”, we try to explore in brief the progress made by women in field of actuarial science and mathematics. There is no doubt that the number of women in the field has widely increased as more women are in the field. The wide spread women empowering campaigns like Women In STEM done by different associations and institutes like African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) has definitely given a positive impact. Focusing on Actuarial field the number of registered actuaries in Actuarial Society of South Africa increased from 15% in 2010 to 21.8% in 2016 and speaking of today, this percent is has been anticipated to increase. As it is our custom, Networking Day is a special day that welcomes actuarial science freshers to ASSAUD. It’s a day that people have an opportunity to interact with each other and also giving students an opportunity to interact with Alumni sharing with them experience and views not only about Actuarial science but also with some other issues about life and opportunities in general.
