Unforgettable Networking day for Actuaries - 2018.

Networking day 2018 Poster designed by Javan Watson (Head of ICT & Public Relations)  On  1st /December/2018 at Kunduchi Beach Hotel & Resort,Dar es salaam, we had our amazing Networking day event with the aim of welcoming our youngsters first year students, as well as sharing ideas and experiences with a alumni in the industry, working in different insurance and pension companies as well as auditing firms. They shared with us experience about the working sphere and more other details concerning our career and its market in Tanzania. Former ASSAUD president Miss Wende and the Current ASSAUD President Mr Othumani.  Moreover, we had enough fun the thing which made us enjoy our day as one family, several games such as football, volleyball, sack racing, swimming, playing cards without forgetting all time music made our day very special and unforgettable Hey Mr DJ, play us a song. An Actuary Mr Omondi paid us a visit.

2nd of November was another blessed day for all ASSAUD members and Actuarial industry in Tanzania as we got in touch with Actuary Elias Omondi from Kenya who has recently been appointed to supervise risk based capital around Central and Eastern Africa. It was a very successful talk with lots of motivation for the upcoming Actuaries. IFAO NEW CURRICULUM 2019.

The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) wants to ensure that, through the qualification for Associateship and Fellowship, members are in a position to take advantage of these opportunities. To support this, the IFoA is introducing a new curriculum, which has been developed along with the changes to the syllabus made by the International Actuarial Association (IAA). 25th August 2018 was a special day for ASSAUD as they reached out A level students at Kibaha boys' sec school for aspiring and making them aware about the Actuarial Career path and it's significance to the economy. Special thanks to the boys as their response came out to be very positive and we hope that in the near future a good number of actuaries will be among them @assaud       _"Creating Actuarial Aspirants"

IFoA's Curriculum 2019: A Detailed Analysis

With Institute and Faculty of Actuaries launching its new curriculum in 2019 (definitely, for the better), there is a lot of confusion among the students, in regards to what exactly will these changes be, what will be their impact on the actuarial profession, will the new curriculum be easier or difficult, what will be IAI's course of action and how to turn this transition into an opportunity. So, let’s address these issues systematically: 1. Important Highlights of Curriculum 2019: a.) The number of subjects have been reduced at the initial level : Instead of the CT series with nine subjects, the new curriculum has the Core Principles (CP) Series, which has three modules, namely: Actuarial Statistics (CS) with two subjects, Actuarial Mathematics (CM) with two subjects, and Business (CB) with three subjects, so, that totals up to 7 subjects only. b.) Computer based exams have been introduced:  In both subjects of CS and the CM modules, you’ll have to take two exams; ...

ACTUARIAL DAY 2018 CONCEPT NOTE

INTRODUCTION: Actuarial day is an annual event which act as a platform for dialogue between Actuarial Science Students, Actuarial alumni, Insurance companies, Social Security schemes, financial services providers and other Risk management stakeholders. The companies and organizations attending will present on how actuarial services contribute to effective management and what job opportunities a holder of an Actuarial Science degree can expect to find with those companies. Actuarial students will also have a chance to present to the risk management stakeholders on different products that will be prepared for the event day. The aim is to find a way to exploit the possible mutual benefits, in terms of career and employment, between Actuarial Science students and the Risk Management stakeholders. The event will be held on  19 th  May 2018  at  Nyerere Theatre hall (University of Dar es Salaam) . It will be having two sessions, the day session and the night sessi...
