INTRODUCTION
Actuarial day is an annual event which act as a platform for dialogue between Actuarial Science Students, Actuarial alumni, Insurance companies, Social Security schemes, financial services providers and other Risk management stakeholders. The companies and organizations attending will present on how actuarial services contribute to effective management and what job opportunities a holder of an Actuarial Science degree can expect to find with those companies.
Actuarial students will also have a chance to present to the risk management stakeholders on different products that will be prepared for the event day. The aim is to find a way to exploit the possible mutual benefits, in terms of career and employment, between Actuarial Science students and the Risk Management stakeholders.
The event will be held on 4th May, 2019 at Nkurumah hall (University of Dar es Salaam). It will be having two sessions, the day session and the night session where details are provided in the concept note. The actuarial science students are expecting to present some of the risk management products that is to include insurance products during the actuarial day.
The theme for the event will be ‘Insurance penetration and density in Tanzania’

OBJECTIVES OF THE EVENT
• To establish and/or strengthen contact between ASSAUD and Risk Management stakeholders
• To help students stay informed of available Actuarial related career opportunities
• To act as a networking venue for Risk management stakeholders and Actuarial Science students
• To derive possible mutual benefits between Actuarial students and Risk stakeholders
• To spread awareness of Actuarial Science and its applications in the financial services industry and student community outside the University. To emphasis students to involve more in research activities to meet development goals
EXPECTED OUTCOMES OF THE EVENT
· A link to be built between Actuarial Science students and prospective employers
· Increased awareness about the Actuarial Science programme offered by the University of Dar Es Salaam to stakeholders and the student community outside the University
· Students to be exposed to the working culture, recruitment process, and available opportunities from the prospective employers
· Increased awareness on the role of the actuary in the society
TARGETED GROUP
We are expecting to have at least 350 people that includes:
· Actuarial science students of Tanzania (from UDSM and IFM)
· International delegates. Expecting students from other universities outside Tanzania (Nairobi University and JKUAT)
·Students from other learning institutions interested in Actuarial science, Risk management.
· Ex- University students (ASSAUD Alumni)
· Other interested individuals, private and public companies or organizations
