In April 29 2017,we had our fifth career day,
it was an excellent opportunity for
students, graduates, stakeholders, companies to come together with an ambition to
develop, explore new skills, technical
expertise to take the actuarial profession to greater heights.
Our Patron, University of Dar es Salaam Mathematics Department did a grand Opening of the event by explaining on UDSM Actuarial Programme. The head of Department, Prof E Mureithi had the honor.
Mr. Ibrahim E Muhanna the Managing Director of i.e. Muhanna & co. (Actuaries & Consultants),talked about the actuarial profession and his plans to increase students capability to meet the professional standards in Tanzania.
Secondly, the General manager of ARIS, Mr. Charles Zanny, explained what they are doing in the risk & insurance industry, with coverage to other countries.
On the other hand, Nathan Kennedy, David Tillya (both are second year students pursuing bachelor of science in actuarial science) gave
a presentation about actuarial career.
Jonathan Mahenge, Noel Mushi (both are first year students pursuing Bsc. In Actuarial Science), presented the emerging insurance
product 'crop insurance' and it's impact
to subsistence farmers who apparently also need security on their crop business.
Also, Actuarial Alumni Funds (AAF),had a chance to share their experiences as our brothers and sisters who have already graduated and work in the industry. Mr Dastan Massawe, BOT, talked about 'actuarial science in Banking,' and Mr Salvatory Kessy presented and explained about arbitrages, the presentation had a heading 'Making Money From Nothing'
Also, we had an opportunity to listen to Public Service Pension Fund (PSPF). The associates explained on the role of Actuarial profession in pension Funds.
It was a pleasure to have our guests from actuarial students society of
Kenya, Mr
Wilson Orelo,
they shared some insights about the actuarial career.
Students from the African Institute Of Mathematical Studies (AIMS) did enlighten us on various issues on mathematical modelling and their integration as an institute in promoting mathematical studies in Africa.

The Event ended with certification to students, presenters, leaders and sponsors for their participation made the event happen.

Last but not least, we all came together and had lunch to finish up and close up the afternoon session.
At the early hours of the night, alumni, students and visitors from Actuarial society Of Kenya gathered at Beach Comber to what we call Actuarial Dinner. People ate and swimming commenced with a little music to conjure the night to Peace.
